The Harmonic Egg® is a complementary, no-touch sensory environment - not a treatment for autism - that many families in Southern Maine use alongside their care team. Sessions deliver predictable, controlled light and sound in a private wooden chamber, supporting a shift from fight-or-flight into a calmer, parasympathetic state. Sessions are $100 (first visit $125 with intake) at Harmonic Egg Saco, 110 Main St, Suite 1210, Saco, Maine.

About the research you may find online

You may see the 2009 Lundqvist et al. study cited alongside the Harmonic Egg®. That study tested vibroacoustic music therapy - a different, therapist-delivered technique - and reported reductions in challenging and self-stimulatory behaviors in individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. It did not test the Harmonic Egg®. Its findings may not transfer to this device or this room, and we don't ask you to assume they do.

Can the Harmonic Egg help with autism?+

Is this a treatment or therapy for autism?+
No. The Harmonic Egg® is a relaxation experience, not autism therapy. Families use it as complementary support to the care their loved one already receives.
Can a parent stay in the room?+
Yes. A parent or caregiver stays close by throughout every session - no one is separated from their child at Harmonic Egg Saco.
What if my child can't sit still?+
That's completely okay. Recline, wiggle, shift, hum - it's all fine. The frequencies do the work; stillness is not required.
Do they have to wear headphones?+
No. Sound fills the whole chamber - no headphones, no earbuds, nothing worn on the body.
What ages do you work with?+
Children through adults. Every first session includes a gentle intake so we can tune the light and sound to the individual.
How loud is the sound?+
The sound is designed to be immersive but not overwhelming. We can soften it further at intake if that is what a sensitive nervous system needs.
Can we visit the studio first before booking?+
Yes - and we recommend it for first-timers who feel nervous. Come look at the space, meet Judy or Bill, and leave without doing a session if that's what works.
Can the door stay open during early visits?+
Yes. On early or sensory-sensitive visits the door can stay open so the space feels safe and never enclosed.
How many sessions before we notice calmer patterns?+
Every nervous system is different, so this genuinely varies. Some families notice a shift after one session; others build over a package of 3, 6, or 9 sessions.
Do you adjust light and sound for sensory sensitivity?+
Yes. At intake we adjust for softer sound, calmer color, and pacing that fits the individual - that's the point of a private, controlled chamber.
How much does a session cost?+
Single sessions are $100 ($125 for a first visit with intake). Packages are 3 sessions for $270, 6 sessions for $510, and 9 sessions for $720.
